The Sign of the Beaver: What is Your Sign?

I loved this year's sixth grade summer reading novel, The Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare.

I hope you couldn't resist reading with a pen in your hand to annotate her vivid word choice and crisp imagery!

On pages 56-57 readers were introduced to secret signs.

Journal:   Reflect on the trail you leave and signs you make to declare your presence (in your car, at your house, in the kitchen, in your backyard, at Grandma's house etc...)

Use your senses to write a description of a location that bears The Sign of ...  

  How would anyone know you had been there?

Think about these things:
Sight-  Your bike left beside the front door
Sound- Your music blaring from your room
Touch- The wet towel wadded up on the bathroom counter
Taste-  The half-eaten cookie beside your desk
Smell-  The socks you just took off after practice
